2.7 Assessment
Candidates model and facilitate the effective use of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments to measure student learning and technology literacy, including the use of digital assessment tools and resources. (PSC 2.7/ISTE 2g)
Artifact: Data Inventory, ITEC7305.
Reflection:
As part of the attempt to improve teaching and learning, the data inventory was organized to first help identify what the instructional problems were in my school and make necessary recommendations for improvement. The inventory covers the 2012-2013 school year test results and other school level information.
The summative assessment results collected were the End-of-course-test, SAT, GHSWT, AP and ACT. These test results, together with other students' data information helped to diagnose areas that need instructional improvement to better serve all students. The use of technology is required in all content areas and the assessments are made based on the skills that students have acquired in these content areas. Constantly, formative assessments are used to serve as a feedback for the students, and for the teachers to identify areas that need improvement.
The students' test resulted gathered covered only one school year. Collecting data information for three or more years would have provided a broader picture of teaching and learning situation in the school.
