Introduction
My name is George Anderson, and I am in the Master's Degree program in Instructional Technology at Kennesaw State University. I began the program in Spring 2013 and will graduate in Spring 2015. I graduated from the University College of Education of Winneba (now University of Education), Ghana, in 2002 with a BacheIor's degree in education. Having already started teaching Art in high school with a Diploma certificate the previous year, the Bachelor's degree merely served as an upgrade. I relocated to the United States in 2008 after seven years of Art teaching experience.
The quest to obtain a US certification made me register for some undergraduate courses through which I had the realization for the need to upgrade my knowledge on technology integration in the classroom. I decided to move up rather to a graduate program after realizing I might have to retake every undergraduate course necessary to gain a certification. KSU's Instructional Technology seemed to be the best option based on my interest and goals. I am currently not assigned to any school but working to transfer my certificate. My goal is to be a competent 21st century teacher and help to improve on technology use in Ghanaian schools.
The purpose of this portfolio is for me to demonstrate mastery of the PSC Instructional Technology standards and the ISTE NETS-C standards. As you can see, there are a series of links below the KSU logo that you can visit. Of particular importance is the "standards" link. Under this link, you will see a series of artifacts and reflections documenting the important work I have completed during this program. Each artifact represents mastery of the standard under which it is represented.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Kennesaw State University, and feel that I am well-prepared to integrate technology into my classroom and to assist other educators in using technology and providing professional learning opportunities for them.
