Artifact: Unit Plan, ITEC7480.
Reflection:
The Unit Plan was a plan of activities and assessments designed to help students use technology to gain access to and to improve upon the learning of visual arts contents. It was designed for 9th grade students who see online art courses as alternative for the face-to-face classroom art instructions.
The course is a fully online course, meaning students will make extensive of the internet in order to succeed. Access to a web camera, still or video camera are requirements for students to be able communicate with the instructor and their peers for support. Students in the Cobb County school district have access to internet connected computers in their schools laboratories where they can access the online course contents. The basic skills required for the class include the ability to apply the principles of design and upload images online. Students have gone through activities in art classes and other disciplines that would help them develop such design skills and information literacy skills. There are options to promote effective communication between the students and the instructor. Though out the units, students will have multiple means of accessing course contents and expressing what they have learned in the course.
The unit plan offered the opportunity to identify some programs that are not available as an option students to offer online. Students' interest and readiness levels are some of the lessons learned when creating the unit plan. As art students constantly need instant support from their instructors, this plan should have been adjusted to indicate the role of mentors.
