1.4 Diffusion of Innovations & Change
Candidates research, recommend, and implement strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and for managing the change process in schools. (PSC 1.4/ISTE 1d)
Artifact: Technology Action Plan, ITEC7410.
Reflection:
This artifact relies on the information provided on the Vision Paper and the SWOT Analysis to make suggestions for how technology has to be used in the school within the first year of the three-year technology plan. Besides, it was made as part of the ITEC 7410 course.
The artifact lays bare what the teachers need to be able to do within the first year to bring up an innovative change in the school. It also recommends how technology has to be used in the classroom within that year to improve teaching and learning. The artifact also demonstrates my research how the teachers would be able acquire the knowledge, skill, and the disposition to improve classroom technology integration. Standard 1.4 requires that ITEC candidates be able to initiate these.
The project led to the discovery of a number of research-proven tools and strategies that are useful in the 21st century classroom. It is now clear to me that teachers who seek professional development need not to enroll in the traditional academic institutions to attain such developments. PBS Teacherline provides technology related training for teachers who seek it online. If I have to do the project again, I would suggest an alternative learning resource for the teachers, with the current developments in cyber-attacks making over reliance on a single website for information not so ideal.
Teachers in the school now are now aware of the PSB Teacherline and how it can help teachers improve how they integrate technology in their lessons. With proper monitoring, teachers would integrate Web 2.0 in their lessons to ensure student engagement.
